EUROPA IZNUTRA I IZVANA

“Europa iznutra i izvana” naziv je projekta s ciljem promocije i približavanja europske suvremene proze hrvatskim čitateljima, a realizirat će se u suradnji s programom Kreativna Europa Europske unije i Ministarstvom kulture Republike Hrvatske.

Tijekom osamnaest mjeseci objavit ćemo deset nagrađivanih romana iz Češke, Italije, Njemačke, Danske, Gruzije, Finske, Poljske, Švedske, Španjolske i Bugarske te ćemo ugostiti devet autora u Zagrebu, gdje ćemo potaknuti kulturnu razmjenu s čitateljima na brojnim književnim promocijama i tribinama.

Ideja vodilja bila nam je oslikati sadašnji trenutak suvremene Europe te smo zato u suradnji s izvrsnim književnim prevoditeljima pretočili deset priča onih koji su na neki način ‘izvan’ većine, bilo društvenim statusom, spolom, bojom kože ili tjelesnim invaliditetom. Naziv projekta aludira na dualitet perspektiva; s jedne strane to su autsajderi rođenjem, a s druge strane oni čiji su stavovi i pogledi na život doveli do svojevrsnog izopćenja. U trenutnoj političkoj i društvenoj klimi, upravo je književnost ta koja marginaliziranima najbolje daje glas.

EUROPE INSIDE OUT

”Europe Inside Out” is a project of literature promotion which includes publication of ten, award winning, contemporary novels from ten countries: Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Georgia, Finland, Poland, Sweden, Spain and Bulgaria. The novels are thematically linked, and deal with the issue of alienation and the position of outsiders from radically different perspectives. Each novel tells a story from the margins, giving voice to people who do not fit in for various reasons (for example, because they are immigrants, gender discriminated, physically disable, politically or religiously different from the majority).

The title of the project suggests that these perspectives are dual. On one hand, there are outsiders by birth, and on the other, there are those who have become outsiders because of their views and way of life. In the present political and social situation around the world, these issues are more than pressing, and literature is sometimes the best way to help understand different positions and points of view.
